Jane Lind Essay Example For Students
Jane Lind Essay Sitting in the Citicorp display close to Manhattans St. Diminishes Church, where she is coordinating five dramas for the multicultural Magic Circle Opera Repertory Company, Alaskan-conceived theater craftsman Jane Lind wears mid length hoops made by a cousin from red cornet globules connoting life, encompassed by dark dabs for assurance. My kin consistently ensure that you have something from home, she remarks. These hoops are to invigorate me. Linds legacy is a managing power behind her work as an on-screen character, chief, choreographer and instructor. I experienced childhood in the Aleutian Islands in Alaska, in a culture that consistently had theater, however I didnt realize it was theater at that point. I think I saw my first brilliant lights in the stones and debris spilling up from Mount Veniaminof, the fountain of liquid magma close to my town of Perryville. It was so sensational we had springs of gushing lava, windstorms, the ocean. Im not sure that something wasnt mixed in me early. Additionally being raised as a Russian Orthodox was significant, on the grounds that that has such pomp. I sang in Russian in the congregation ensemble. I have a sixteenth to a fourth of Russian in me, and my grandma consistently stated, You relate to everything in you. The Aleut culture and the Russian culture were a lot of part of my life. Lind started her expert profession while a secondary school understudy at the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe, where her presentation as Jo in A Taste of Honey prompted the job of Rosa in Gene Frankels creation of The Rose Tattoo at SMUS Greer Garson Theater. She propelled her New York vocation in the mid 70s when she helped found the Native American Theater Ensemble. Her social character additionally educated her exhibition as Hecuba in Andrei Serbans Fragments of a Greek Trilogy, a fundamental creation that opened at La Mama and visited universally in the mid-70s. Lind reviews that during practices we had an individual showing us Ancient Greek, yet we likewise utilized Latin and a blend of dialects. There was some Aleut in it, as well, I contributed that. While playing Kate in The Taming of the Shrew at the Alaska Repertory Company in 1982, Lind got the opportunity to investigate her developing enthusiasm for coordinating that dated back to her secondary school arranging of a Native American adaptation of Oedipus Rex. She and Dana Hart, the on-screen character playing Petruchio, were approached to go into the schools and train dramatization as an approach to assist kids with improving their instructive aptitudes and confidence. In the end, they did theater residencies in eight rustic networks around the state. Through this venture, Lind experienced understudies with gigantic individual issues; many had attempted to end it all. A great deal of the educators, anyway great and caring they may be, were white, though I was a local individual that understudies could relate to. Very quickly, I made them do everything. The good example was significant for them and started to cut obstructions like there's no tomorrow. When I comprehended whom I was working with, I felt that I needed to give them additional time, that I should begin giving something back. So Lind started working with Native Americans in Alaska to record their legends. In the wake of establishing the Spirit Theater in Bethel with Renee Patten, Lind investigated Inuit legends and appointed Dave Hunsacker to compose a play dependent on the creation fantasy. The Spirits in Ad Things visited towns in southwestern Alaska and the Arctic slant, and in Fairbanks and Anchorage. She at that point worked with the Athabascan individuals, co-composing with Patten and coordinating The Potlatch, in view of customary legends. Potlatch is a traveler piece, she clarifies, a half-hour play that shows the heart, the quality and the magnificence of the individuals. Numerous towns need to work so what they present to visitors will be stately. The manner in which the work is done shifts. Here and there understudies from colleges and universities go out and tape the individuals talking; here and there I go with them, however the aggregating tumbles to me. It is hard to get the trust of the people groups and their older folks since they have been ripped off so regularly by theater or move individuals who have considered their societies and done understandings that havent went through the seniors and have been pointless for the people groups. In my undertakings, the last advance is getting the approval of the older folks, so the regard is there. The hardest fight I need to battle is that, while I am a Native American, I am a lady. They don't anticipate that a lady should do what I do; a lady is as yet expected to be home with the children. They find that Im extremely restrained and have done my examination and have the most noteworthy regard, yet at the same time at times they state, Why would it be a good idea for us to confide in you? I state, Why would it be advisable for you to not? Dont let your accounts kick the bucket in light of the fact that Im attempting to do them. You will be blameworthy of taking your legacy to the grave as opposed to offering it to the people to come. They once in a while get steamed about how Im doing it, since I slice one section off to make the story line stream, yet Im attempting to go for the heart. I get the conventional moves, for example, however Ill state, I can't let you sing for ten minutes. I need just three minutes, for the pith. Your own kin start to question you in that procedure of getting to what is actually theirs. After they see it, they comprehend. In practices for The Glenn and Allen Show, a play about the provincial Alaskan towns of Glenn and Allen which highlights Athabascan and white occupants, Lind was confronted with obstruction from local entertainers who disliked being moved around the phase in gatherings. She asked the most frank Athabascan to sit in the assembly hall and watch: I clarified why I was moving them around how it demonstrated them generally present yet their properties contracting and he stated, Oh man, Jane, I didnt know this was occurring. The photos very not the same as being up there. Lind, who played Chuck Connerss Inupiaq Eskimo spouse for executive Percy Adlon in Salmonberries, which won in front of the pack in a 1991 Canadian movie celebration, is continually exchanging caps: For as far back as five years Ive been coordinating dramas for Magic Circle, which needs me to submit a greater amount of my time. In Alaska they need me to do a residency for a year, just as to help numerous towns that need to improve the travel industry. One month from now Lind goes into practice as driving woman and choreographer for Robert Jonansons creation of Black Elk Speaks, another variant of Christopher Sergels play about a Sioux sacred man, initially introduced at the Folger Theater in Washington, D.C. The play opens at the New Mexico Repertory theater in Santa Fe, and is relied upon to go to the Paper Mill Playhouse in New Jersey right on time one year from now. Between acting commitment, Lind will keep on working in Alaska: Beginning my vocation in the Native American Theater Ensemble gave me the sureness that I could get by acting, and furthermore made me exceptionally glad for what my identity was. In the long run it likewise gave me the craving to return to my kin and state, Hey, we have legends that merit recalling and recording lets take a gander at them. Its fabulous to set up organizations for Native Americans, however shouldn't something be said about the spirit? To me, that is the thing that performance center is. .u109a6a20075bbfdb2d17328c91c3d15e , .u109a6a20075bbfdb2d17328c91c3d15e .postImageUrl , .u109a6a20075bbfdb2d17328c91c3d15e .focused content zone { min-stature: 80px; position: relative; } .u109a6a20075bbfdb2d17328c91c3d15e , .u109a6a20075bbfdb2d17328c91c3d15e:hover , .u109a6a20075bbfdb2d17328c91c3d15e:visited , .u109a6a20075bbfdb2d17328c91c3d15e:active { border:0!important; } .u109a6a20075bbfdb2d17328c91c3d15e .clearfix:after { content: ; show: table; clear: both; } .u109a6a20075bbfdb2d17328c91c3d15e { show: square; progress: foundation shading 250ms; webkit-change: foundation shading 250ms; width: 100%; darkness: 1; progress: haziness 250ms; webkit-progress: obscurity 250ms; foundation shading: #95A5A6; } .u109a6a20075bbfdb2d17328c91c3d15e:active , .u109a6a20075bbfdb2d17328c91c3d15e:hover { mistiness: 1; progress: murkiness 250ms; webkit-change: darkness 250ms; foundation shading: #2C3E50; } .u109a6a20075bbfdb2d17328c91c3d15e .focused content territory { width: 100%; position: relat ive; } .u109a6a20075bbfdb2d17328c91c3d15e .ctaText { fringe base: 0 strong #fff; shading: #2980B9; text dimension: 16px; textual style weight: striking; edge: 0; cushioning: 0; text-embellishment: underline; } .u109a6a20075bbfdb2d17328c91c3d15e .postTitle { shading: #FFFFFF; text dimension: 16px; textual style weight: 600; edge: 0; cushioning: 0; width: 100%; } .u109a6a20075bbfdb2d17328c91c3d15e .ctaButton { foundation shading: #7F8C8D!important; shading: #2980B9; outskirt: none; outskirt sweep: 3px; box-shadow: none; text dimension: 14px; textual style weight: intense; line-tallness: 26px; moz-fringe span: 3px; text-adjust: focus; text-beautification: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-tallness: 80px; foundation: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/modules/intelly-related-posts/resources/pictures/basic arrow.png)no-rehash; position: total; right: 0; top: 0; } .u109a6a20075bbfdb2d17328c91c3d15e:hover .ctaButton { foundation shading: #34495E!important; } .u109a6a20075bbfdb 2d17328c91c3d15e .focused content { show: table; tallness: 80px; cushioning left: 18px; top: 0; } .u109a6a20075bbfdb2d17328c91c3d15e-content { show: table-cell; edge: 0; cushioning: 0; cushioning right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-adjust: center; width: 100%; } .u109a6a20075bbfdb2d17328c91c3d15e:after { content: ; show: square; clear: both; } READ: Israel Horovitz Essay

Small talk
Small talk Well my friends, yesterday I took a little bit of a nap on the bus on the way home from my field hockey game, and when I awoke, what to my wondering eyes did appear but snow?! I kid you not. It was snowing. And sticking! Ive already mentioned that Im from New Jersey- I know what snow is. Ive seen plenty of it before. Ive seen it piled 3 feet high, layered with ice, piled in driftsIm no stranger to snow. But snow before Halloween just weirds me out, man. Seriously. Yikes. Speaking of weird, despite the fact that there was definitely a layer of snow on the ground yesterday morning, it had all melted by last night. This isnt exactly weird, since it is still October, and the snow was pretty wet. What is weird is that last night (and today) were downright pleasant in terms of weather. I just dont get it. Anyway, I thought Id wrote a quick little entry here just to answer some questions that have been posed to me over the last week or so Timur said, I hear MIT even has a mailing list specifically to notify students of events that have free food. :) This is most certainly true. Im not personally on that particular mailing list, but I was planning to write a little feature about MIT mailing lists in the near future, so stay tuned! Mike asked, hey, just a question about athletics. I am interested in playing football at MIT. Are football practices from 5-7 as well? Thats really short! I havent had a chance to contact the coach yet. Im pretty sure all sports follow pretty much the same schedule. According to Section 2.12 of the Rules of the Faculty, no classes or tests can be scheduled during those 2 hours. If coaches decide to hold practices say, from 4-7, some students will have conflict with classes, and since the NCAA has really strict rules about Division III athletics, that can get really messy. I can also say that the field hockey and football teams often pass each other on the way into and out of the athletic center during those 2 hours. That said, next time I see Kevin 09, who lives next door to me and plays football, Ill be sure to check. =) In my entry about Woodie Flowers, Nehalita asked, Btw, how involved were you in FIRST as a highschooler? I actually only spent one year involved with FIRST. I started working with the team during my junior year because a friend of mine finally convinced me to join. I had a great time (go team 30!) but a whole list of unfortunate things happened to our team over the course of that year. We lost our corporate funding, our advisor was getting tired of the massive time committment, and our principal just kind of got rid of the whole thing. So our team died and I didnt get to participate during my senior year, which was pretty sad. But during that one year, I definitely became a core memeber of the build time (staying at school until 10 PM on the days leading up to Ship Day) In my entry about duct tape, Jonathan asked, Ok, just have to ask after the duct tape comment are you from Texas? and Im just going to assume he was talking to me so I can answer and not feel guilty for not responding to his question. As I mentioned just a minute ago in this entry, Im actaully from New Jersey. And what is it about duct tape that makes you think of Texas? Also, Merudh asked awhile ago about how his school doesnt rankto be perfectly honest, I dont even remember how I addressed this on the application. Im sure theres some box that can be checked that says school does not rank. I do know that I wrote up a small description of my high school/district and stuck it into that anything else? section of every application I filled out. Also, Id love to tell you my point of view about the MCVSD and MIT admissions, but it would be a waste to post it here, since it applies to exactly no one else. (Merudh and I went to high schools in the same district. We even met on a nerdy class trip.) But feel free to shoot me an email with any questions you might have about it, and Ill be sure to get back to you!

Efficiency vs Effectiveness - 874 Words
Efficiency vs effectiveness Source: http://www.digital-knowledge.nl/dikn/en/to-develop/to-change/efficiency-versus-effectiveness.html Change is often difficult; sometimes its not. Sometimes its just a matter of looking at things differently. In our society efficiency is seen as very important, but should we really make efficiency that important? Perhaps by using slightly different, but very similar measures, the nett result is really different! The terms effectiveness and efficiency are related. Efficiency describes the nett use of resources required to perform a task; effectiveness refers to the degree a goal is reached. Efficiency is a measure of the way something functions, as seen from the point of view of that thing orâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦Of course, ideally one should be both efficient and effective. However, when having to make a choice between the two, choosing getting the rights things done (effectiveness) over doing things right (efficiency), might yield better results, in the end. Typically, in modern organisations, all sorts of activities must be recorded, as demanded by protocol. Keeping these records serves some purpose. The combination of goal and content of the administration determines whether it is effective, the way this is done determines its efficiency. The later use of the records determines the ultimate effectiveness of record-keeping. In many cases, record-keeping is done separately from the main process, which makes it inefficient, and in many cases the administration is mainly used to prove an activity was performed, without knowing the end-result, which makes it ineffective. Change that tightly couples the (new) design of processes, products and services to the ultimate goal (customer demand) is very well feasible. However, at the design level it requires a focus on the goal and purpose (i.e. the effect) instead of the efficiency of the implementation. Effective Vs. We only belong because we think we do Free Essays
What if the world was a big disappointment? What if the way the world we espied wasnââ¬â¢t that predictable? The hopes and dreams created to fulfill the emptiness has shifted and molded the perceptions of mankind to think that there is an innate ability to exist with the alliance of others, such as, with people of the same gender, age, interests and most importantly culture. Anthropologists and psychologists propose that Homo Sapiens are not born a self, rather the self is weakened by the surroundings the person is exposed to, known as the ââ¬Ësignificant otherââ¬â¢. The significant other refers to ââ¬Ënuclear family, in other words the family you were born into that consists of- in most cases ââ¬â a mother, a father and sibling(s). We will write a custom essay sample on We only belong because we think we do or any similar topic only for you Order Now Thus, external sources have an impact as well, for instance, the ââ¬Ëmodern self. The modern self incorporates ideas such as language, thoughts and status that will cause the ââ¬Ëself to be ranked. Further elaborating the so called ââ¬Ëmodern self groups those around them into a hierarchy of the cultivated all the way through to the not so cultivates ââ¬â savage. Whether evolution occurred or not of apes transforming into humans, and whether e agree with it or not, many significant comparisons canââ¬â¢t be obtained from that theory. A significant concept of the human race regarding skin color can be directed to Edward Thorniness theory of trial and errorââ¬â¢. What does this theory suggest? Repeated errors continue until success if reached. Error, mutation in the human body repeatedly occurred during the past couple of billion years until ââ¬Ësuccessââ¬â¢ was finally reached; the current human body. Yes very debatable, but we can simply take this teary and implement it into our lives. Failure, what does it mean? Most of the time titer depressing, right? However, if failure is viewed from the same angle it was viewed during the study of evolution, it can be life changing. Failure led to success. Which means, technically there is nothing wrong with failing, if you invested a sufficient amount of effort. Sanderââ¬â¢s failure to be classified as Whiteââ¬â¢ rather than ââ¬Ëcoloredââ¬â¢ was a similar effect of trial and error theory. The back and forth classification of Sanderââ¬â¢s ââ¬Ëlabelââ¬â¢ is a motive of failure. People such as Sandra that Todd up against the law leaded the failure to successââ¬â¢ in the time now. Through the hardships and discrimination that they faced helped those people in knows society to be respected and to be seen that they are Just the same as Whiteââ¬â¢ people despite the being a different color. The two unlike ideas of the Whiteââ¬â¢ and ââ¬Ëcoloredââ¬â¢ society uniting failed, however, Sandra found it less complicated and easier to conform to the black society than the white race, regardless of the disadvantages she had to face throughout time. Sanderââ¬â¢s trial was the contrast between the white and black society. The error was being born with the genes she inherited from both white parents that carried black ancestry, which resulted in Sandra paying a price for it; rather then her parents. For many thousands of years the notion of belonging to somewhere or something was and still is a significant issue. The apartheid era in South Africa began in 1652, with the settlement of Jan Van Rebecca. The natives were criticized for their language, which was mockingly referred as ââ¬ËHottentotsââ¬â¢, also they were describes to be the lowest of the low[that they adapted] a missing link between humans and peesââ¬â¢. This prejudging of natives exhibited, that the black natives of the country was a class whose weakness was inborn. When the foreigners arrived and observed the native black people they made a Judgment on their behavior that throughout their daily lives of working they were slow people that lacked energy therefore the foreigners concluded that their weakness was inborn. Accepting the native blacks for the Dutch foreigners was a hard limit, because they viewed that blacks low and themselves superior. Becoming a part of a community that suffered with black and white skin color controversy meant a threat was adhered upon the individuals security, safety and shelter also incorporating that these factors are mentioned in Measles Hierarchy of Needs as the most important obligations for ones survival. As the artificial barriers were removed between socioeconomic classes, society was encouraged to build biological barriers, which allowed status to be ruled by DNA. The most obvious roles of skin is the social label it has on the individual. Skin pigment is inherited from our genetic makeup, but those with the wrong genes are placed in an environment where it is nearly impossible to escape from; known as the apartheid era. In most cases it is seen that ââ¬Ëpeople with dark skins are, in most places, less successful, less healthy and ââ¬â perhaps ââ¬â less contented than those with light. Simply this statement was extracted from ââ¬Å"In the Blood ââ¬â God, Genes, Destinyââ¬â¢ by Steven Jones who stated the general public that thought this way. Thus, stating the obvious the black people are the ones who brought freedomââ¬â¢ into todayââ¬â¢s society. Significant figures such as Muhammad All, Michael Jordan, Malcolm X, Nelson Mandela and Susan Bolt have made the apartheid issue a national problem and brought it to the realization of other people to declare freedom. Belong to a group is a vital need to every individual. However, belonging doesnââ¬â¢t come with ease, it takes trial and error to succeed and keeping an open mind to changes. Throughout history it is evident to conclude that keeping an open mind and acceptance towards others around us will bring success and comfort. Thus, if we donââ¬â¢t learn from the past there will still be controversy and superiority amount groups due to unethical matters. How to cite We only belong because we think we do, Papers

Sonnet CXXX by William Shakespeare and To his coy mistress by Andrew Marvell Essay Example
Sonnet CXXX by William Shakespeare and To his coy mistress by Andrew Marvell Paper Firstly I will be analysing Sonnet CXXX by William Shakespeare. The poem has been written to send a message to poets, telling them that sonnets do not have to be unrealistic; Shakespeare also mocks traditional Elizabethan sonnets. The occasion is that Shakespeare believes in real love not falsely comparing women to god-like creatures. The sonnet was written in the Renaissance era. The sonnet is not traditional to other of that era because he turns traditional sonnets on their head by saying no such roses see I in her cheeks. The only traditional element of the poem is that it has structure of a traditional sonnet. In this poem Shakespeare deals with the theme of love for example Shakespeare uses Juxtaposition to show that traditional sonnet are unrealistic If hairs be wires, black wires grow on her head. Shakespeare said this to show realistic characteristics of women instead of false comparison. The emotion and feelings in the poem are not clear but towards the end, especially the rhyming couplets there is hints of love. Shakespeare poem has the traditional backbone of a sonnet of 14 lines and 10 syllables per lines. The sonnet follows an ABAB rhyming scheme with rhyming couplets at the end. Shakespeare has done this to draw attention to his sonnet; sonnets in the Elizabethan era were very popular with people so it had a much bigger fan base. The sonnet also follows Iambic Pentameter of stressed followed by unstressed. Shakespeares poetic devices are cleverly used like negative description Coral is far more red than her lips red this negative because traditional poems would hail the beauty of a women. Juxtaposition is also used to give a sense of reality instead of golden threads Shakespeare uses Black wires this effect is used to give the real image as well as shock the reader. I will now be looking at To his coy Mistress by Andrew Marvell, Marvell is a metaphysical poet who writes physical and spiritual attributes which are with logic. The poem was written in 17th Centuary therefore the language and vocabulary will be different. This poem is about a writer being rejected by the women he loves. The theme of the poem is love and how physical pleasure should be enjoyed due to times passing too quickly. This introduces the theme of transience for example Time winged chariot hurrying near this is used (I need HELP!!!!) The structure of the poem has 46 lines and 3 versus; this might be done to show the emotions in graver detail. The poem is written in rhyming couplets to give the poem a more fluid feel. For poetic device, Marvell uses hyperbole but thirty thousand to the rest. Marvell uses this to show how much in love is in. Marvell builds his arguments by saying If, So and But by using this method puts doubt in the lovers mind. The tone of the poem is very tongue in cheek; this is used to tease the mistress. The imagery of the poem is very striking, Marvell shocks the reader by saying worms shall try that, that long persevered virginity, and the writer said this to convince the mistress to change her mind. Harsh imagery is also implied especially in the third verse, Than languish in his chapt-slow power. In this section I will be closely comparing the subject, themes and style of Sonnet CXXX by William Shakespeare and to his coy mistress by Andrew Marvell. The subject of the two poems is mainly about the experience of love. The common elements of the poem are mainly the humour and reality of love. The style of the two poems is that they both have rhyming couplets but dont follow the same structure of lines and verses. Due to the both of the poems being written at the same era they have the same kind of language and vocabulary akin to Thy, Sunne and Musicke. The tones of the poems are completely different; Marvell poem is very tongue in cheek unlike Shakespeares negative sonnet. When the imagery of the two poems are compared with love they are similar for example Nor would I at lower rate, I think my love as rare. In comparison when compared with death and decaying The graves a fine and private place. My personal opinion of Sonnet CXXX by William Shakespeare is that it is very unique it shows how a real person will feel if they were in love. It also shows real characteristics of people and comparing humans as god-like creatures. My opinion of To his coy mistress by Andrew Marvell is a very humorous in certain lines and verses especially Till conversion of the Jews, the humour in the poem makes the reader to find out what is going to happen next. Marvell brings an element of surprise especially to the female readers Then worms shall try that long persevered virginity this is a surprise because its unexpected. The main reasons why To his coy mistress is better than Sonnet CXXX is that Marvell uses a vast assortment of poetic devices to express the writers thoughts, feelings and emotions. The imagery which I particularly enjoyed was the personification of time in Marvells poem like Times winged chariot it gives the poem a certain degree of urgency. Also the harsh imagery gave the poem a clearer, vivid picture. In Sonnet CXXX by William Shakespeare, the use of ionic symbols of love was strong and unique Coral is far more red than her lips red. The poem which I personally prefer is To his coy mistress by Andrew Marvell. I chose this poem because poem because it tells the unexpected and as I said above it shocks the reader, as well as shocking the reader it brings humour, in my opinion thats what Sonnet CXXX failed to do. But on the other hand Sonnet CXXX is a very unique and untraditional sonnet with it is own style which is hard to duplicate. With regards To his coy mistress you can understand the passion and commitment of the writer in the first and second verses like Two hundred to adore each breast. We understand how he feels because Marvell writes as if he is desperate for his lovers affection.

The SDLC Process Essays
The SDLC Process Essays The SDLC Process Paper The SDLC Process Paper Procedures tend to perform actions as with functions these are reusable Classes Part of the object-oriented programming paradigm a class contains both data and functions that describe a real world thing Objects A concrete Instance of a class complete with Its personal data Abstraction of data One of the key principle Ideas behind the creation of classes In data abstraction the ATA type Is less Important than the operations that can preformed on It In a sense the data type Is hidden behind a Limited number of functions method Predefine code Generally a term describing code that is already written and that can be used in a developers solution with permission this may take the form of a compiled module a call to the operating system or a snippet of ready-made code that can be inserted into their solution b) The OSDL process was designed to ensure end-state solutions meet user requirements in support of business strategic goals and objectives. In addition, the OSDL also provides a detail ed guide to help Program Managers with ALL aspects of IT system development, regardless of the system size and scope. The OSDL contains a comprehensive checklist of the rules and regulations governing IT systems, and is one way to ensure system developers comply with all applicable Government regulations, because the consequences of not doing so are high and wide ranging. This is especially true in the post 9/1 1 environment where larger amounts of Information are considered sensitive in nature, and are shared among commercial, International, Federal, state, and local partners. The seven-step process contains a procedural checklist and the systematic progression required to evolve an IT system from conception to disposition. The following descriptions briefly explain each of the seven phases of the OSDL: 1. Conceptual Planning. This phase Is the first step of any systems life cycle. It Is during this phase that a need to acquire or significantly enhance a system Is identified, Its feasibility and costs are assessed, and the risks and various project-planning approaches are defined. Roles and responsibilities for he Asset Manager, Sponsors Representative, System Development Agent (SAD), System Support Agent (ASS), and other parties In OSDL policy are designated during this stage and updated throughout the systems life cycle. 2. Planning and Requirements Definition. This phase begins after the project has been defined and appropriate resources have been committed. The first portion of this phase involves second part is developing initial life cycle management plans, including project planning, project management, Configuration Management (CM), support, operations, and training management. 3. Design. During this phase, functional, support and training requirements are translated into preliminary and detailed designs. Decisions are made to address how the system will meet functional requirements. A preliminary (general) system design, emphasizing the functional features of the system, is produced as a high-level guide. Then a final (detailed) system design is produced that expands the design by specifying all the technical detail needed to develop the system. 4. Development and Testing. During this phase, systems are developed or acquired based on detailed design specifications. The system is litigated through a sequence of unit, integration, performance, system, and acceptance testing. The objective is to ensure that the system functions as expected and that sponsors requirements are satisfied. All system components, communications, applications, procedures, and associated documentation are plopped/acquired, tested, and integrated. This phase requires strong user participation in order to verify thorough testing of all requirements and to meet all business needs. 5. Implementation. During this phase, the new or enhanced system is installed in the production environment, users are trained, data is converted (as added), the system is turned over to the sponsor, and business processes are evaluated. This phase includes efforts required to implement, resolve system problems identified during the implementation process, and plan for statement. 6. Operations and Maintenance. The system becomes operational during this phase. The emphasis during this phase is to ensure that sponsor needs continue to be met and that the system continues to perform according to specifications. Routine hardware and software maintenance and upgrades are performed to ensure effective system operations. User training continues during this phase, as needed, to acquaint new users to the system or to introduce new features to current users. Additional user support is provided, as an ongoing activity, to help resolve reported problems. 7. Disposition. This phase represents the end of the systems life cycle. It provides for the systematic termination of a system to ensure that vital information is preserved for potential future access and/or reactivation. The system, when placed in the Disposition Phase, has been declared surplus and/or obsolete and has been scheduled for shutdown. The emphasis of this phase is to ensure that the system (e. G. , equipment, parts, software, data, procedures, and documentation) is packaged and disposed of in accordance with appropriate regulations and requirements. Each column in the graphic represents an individual phase. The documents in each phase are created and maintained throughout the rest of the development cycles until the final disposition of the project. Although this indicates the process is linear, it is not. It is iterative and once a project is deployed, the management of the project may return to requirements gathering to start all over again.

Arab Americans Populations by State
Arab Americans Populations by State As a bloc, the 3.5 million Arab Americans in the United States are becoming an important economic and electoral minority. The largest concentrations of Arab Americans are in some of the most contested electoral battlegrounds of the 1990s and the 2000s - Michigan, Florida, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Virginia. In the early 1990s Arab Americans tended to register Republican more than Democratic. That changed after 2001. So have their voting patterns. The largest block of Arab Americans in most states is of Lebanese descent. They account for a quarter to a third of the total Arab population in most states. New Jersey is an exception. There, Egyptians account for 34% of the Arab American population, Lebanese account for 18%. In Ohio, Massachusetts, and Pennsylvania, Lebanese account for 40% to 58% of the Arab American population. All these figures are based on estimates by ââ¬â¹Zogby International, conducted for the Arab American Institute. A note about the population estimates in the table below: ââ¬â¹Youll notice quite a disparity between the 2000 Census Bureau figures and those of Zogby in 2008. Zogby explains the difference: The decennial Census identifies only a portion of the Arab population through a question on ancestry on the census long form. Reasons for the undercount include the placement of and limits of the ancestry question (as distinct from race and ethnicity); the effect of the sample methodology on small, unevenly distributed ethnic groups; high levels of out-marriage among the third and fourth generations; and distrust/misunderstanding of government surveys among more recent immigrants. Theatre Critique Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words - 1
Theatre Critique - Essay Example The paper describes the music and the story which blended well together and it did not seem at any point that the music was juxtaposed forcefully within the play. Also the director was able to develop a strong coordination between the actors when no one was impressed with the acting skills of Tommy DeVito and Bob Gaudio since they seemed out of character at different points of the play. This, however, did not majorly impact the pleasurable experience. The paper emphasizes the attention that the director of the play had seemed to put a lot of effort within the play with his focus on detail. It seemed that the director had meticulously planned each part of play and the different part coordinated well in the final piece. In conclusion, the paper says that Jersey Boys is a play worth watching, especially when one wants to develop an understanding of the way successful plays are created. The most remarkable part of the play was the way the different elements of the theatre worked in synergy with each other. The actors completely understood the time era in which they were acting and this was evident in the way they developed stereotypical models of that era. From the lighting to the costumes, the play came together as a convincing performance. Each actor seemed to have a certain musical signature which helped bring out the character of that actor. This was particularly important in a musical play and for me, this attributed to the success of the play. In plays revolving around music, the audience comes to appreciate the music along with the acting. The director also seemed to have a good knowledge of the musical instruments of the pop era and used them sparingly throughout out the play, thus, developing the mood of the music as well as the era.

However, due to the decrease in demand in rice during 2008, the price of rice has significantly increased. But with the aid of the structural changes, the US rice industry has managed to cope and since then the trend of the demand has normalized. Currently, rice is valued in the market at $578.36 per metric ton. According to World Bankââ¬â¢s bi-annual Global Economic Prospects (26) report, a decline on the prices of global prices of farm commodities should be expected in 2012 by up to 11% mainly due because of the slowdown in demand and improved supply prospects. Although returns to rice production are highly variable and fluctuating, the trend is being controlled with the substantial structural changes that are being implemented in order to balance these factors. In the years to come, as the World Bank has predicted, rice prices will continually drop. And unlike other agricultural products, the rice industry has enjoyed a decline in its

Oedipus Fate and Outline Paper Essay
The play Oedipus the King, translated by Robert Fagles, is a story of drama and tragedy. Oedipusââ¬â¢ pride and morals cause him to take fate into his own hands and it ends up blowing up in his face. He was abandoned as a baby and was raised by the king and queen of Corinth. When he reached manhood, he was informed by an oracle that he would one day kill his father and marry his mother. He left Corinth forever and along his way he came to cart carrying his real father. Out of rage, he killed everyone including his father. In Thebes, he defeated the Sphinx. His reward was kingship and the dead kingââ¬â¢s wife, his mother. Oedipus tried to change his future but eventually fate caught up with him. Oedipus, as a king, was both caring and conceited. He talked as though everyone should know his name but at the same time worked to solve the illness that plagued his people. As an investigator, he was harsh, determined, and at times mean to the ones that he interrogated. As a husband and father, he was loving and caring, and as an arch-criminal, he was humble and accepting. His most predominant characteristic is being moral. He ran when he was told that he destined to kill his father and marry his mother. He gouged his eyes out when he found out that he was married to his mother and fathered her children. The characteristics that soften his as being moral were that he was prideful and determined. His pride and determination caused the events of his life to be brought to light and made him look unmoral. His personality causes him to continue with the investigation because he is prideful, determined, and in denial. His determination drives him to push the investigation into who killed King Laius. His pride keeps him from being the royal scapegoat when asked to be. His denial that he actually killed his father, married his mother, and fathered her children kept him investigating the death of King Laius. Eventually in the end he accepts his fate which he tried to avoid for a long time. He accepted his fate which was a humble and noble act by a king. Thatââ¬â¢s what makes his act the greatest act of kingship of all. He sacrificed himself for the betterment of his people knowing that he had done wrong and needed to be punished. In this play, Oedipus tried so very hard to control his own fate from the time he reached manhood to when it caught up to him. His fate caught up with him. Everything he didnââ¬â¢t want to become and tried to avoid came true in the end. It was a tragic ending for a man who tried so hard not be who ended up being.
